What Series A Funding Means for OpsCompass
Yesterday we announced OpsCompass’ Series A round of growth funding, led by Elsewhere Partners. Over the past year or so, we’ve made incredible leaps forward both as a company and a product. In a short time and, with a small but growing team (I’m super proud of this team), we successfully established great customer momentum in the burgeoning market defined by Gartner as Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM).
Customers ranging from Fortune 500 companies to fast-growing startups are now using OpsCompass as a foundational platform for governance, compliance, and security across all of their different cloud platforms and services. The Elsewhere team recognizes the enormous overall market potential for CSPM and the success OpsCompass could realize with access to more capital and resources.
For OpsCompass, the additional resources mean the ability to expand our presence nationally, as well as internationally, while rapidly accelerating the development of new OpsCompass features, which make us even more unique and differentiated in the CSPM space – more on that in a minute. From our very first meeting with Elsewhere, it was obvious they understood our business at a deep level and could add a ton of value by helping us fully realize our vision for OpsCompass. The team at Elsewhere brings strong experience in building and scaling successful enterprise software and tools for companies like SolarWinds and SailPoint, and they are perfectly suited to help us take OpsCompass to the next level.
So, what is that next level for the OpsCompass product, you ask? One of the things that attracted Elsewhere to OpsCompass was our unique approach to cloud governance and cloud visibility. We’re going to build on our strong foundation, to be sure, but we’re also accelerating development of new features and functionality that will make OpsCompass the best and most complete platform for modern, cloud-native, governance and security across all clouds.
Deeper coverage for PaaS and Serverless
OpsCompass may have the broadest coverage for Platform as a Service (PaaS) services of any solution in our space. For instance, our customers have the ability govern their cloud Kubernetes environments with OpsCompass the same way they govern their other cloud components. It takes just minutes to set up, and it’s continuous and automated. OpsCompass works this way with most of the PaaS offerings on AWS and Azure. With our new Elsewhere partnership, we’re going to double-down on making OpsCompass the simplest and most effective way for organizations to ensure a strong security and compliance posture outside of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), as well as in the areas of PaaS and serverless, which customers are adopting more and more of every day.
More Supported Clouds including Office365
A major challenge our customers face is how to govern and secure multiple clouds. Today, OpsCompass gives customers high-fidelity vision into their cloud configuration posture. Our customers have told us they need that same capability for Office365 and other Software as a Service (SaaS) products. So, in January we launched our Office365 private beta with select customers. Due to the successful beta, it will be made generally available on March 15. Our new resources, made possible by the funding, will allow us to go deeper into specific Office365 products and add additional SaaS clouds to OpsCompass. Additionally, we’re excited about accelerating our support for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) which will be released in Q2 of this year.
Hybrid and Multi-cloud Options Continue to Evolve
The lines between the cloud and on-prem are starting to blur. Amazon and Microsoft both have offerings that bring their cloud services and management APIs into the customer’s data center. Today, OpsCompass adds value in these scenarios because we already support those APIs, but we want to go deeper. Customers want a common, cloud-native, governance and compliance model across all of their cloud environments, and we’re going to make sure OpsCompass is well positioned to deliver that experience as hybrid offerings mature.
Since the very first release of OpsCompass, we’ve been obsessed with delivering a cloud governance and compliance product to our customers that is simple, scalable, and built for modern public cloud patterns and practices. Our new partners at Elsewhere are every bit as passionate about building great products that our customers love. We’re the perfect team to define the scalable, cloud-native, CSPM and cloud governance platform for the modern cloud.
